Jed Massey is a playwright and theatre director, living and working in the spectacularly beautiful county of West Yorkshire in the UK. A lengthy career in industry and a PhD in psychology, combined with Jed’s creative mind and observational humour, have led him to turn his attention to writing for the stage. This is a medium he adores, with its origins in his early days working at Bradford’s Alhambra theatre experiencing the real-time journey that good theatre takes its audience on.

He wrote his first play, Shine, in March 2023 in five days whilst vacationing in New York. Unable to sleep, he found an all-night café and the inspiration to write the uplifting story of six strangers who come together to serve their time, find redemption, and achieve amazing things.

He followed this with a prequel to Shine, True Love Ways: a story of the life and love of Ivy, one of Shine’s most loved characters, and her husband Alf.
